A wrist weight is used for holding dumbbells and other types of hand held weights.  It is not advisable to perform explosive movements; the proper way is to do it gradually before performing full extension.  You should also reduce it gradually in order to avoid injuries.  A wrist weight is beneficial since you do not need a strong grip for added resistance.  However, using a wrist weight is not recommended for those people who are suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome because it can increase the damage.

The best exercise machine for your weight training is the weight machine.  Its primary source of resistance is gravity.  Various types of simple machines are used in obtaining resistance.  Each of these simple machines creates a mechanical advantage with respect to the weight.

Sometimes beginners or those people who have stopped training for a while are having some confusion whether to choose free weights or machines.  However knowing the pros and cons of a weight machine can help you make the right decision.  A weigh machine is a great choice for those people who are still beginners in strength training.  In fact, a lot of beginners like this machine because it is easy to use, it is less intimidating, it is very supportive and it can save time.  This machine is easy to use because it consists of diagrams and instructions.  It is less intimidating since you know what muscles you are working on and what exercises are appropriate.  It provides support especially for people who are still starting to learn new exercises.  That is why, it is ideal for those people who are rehabbing their injuries.  It saves a lot of time when changing weights unlike using free weights.  Weight machines also have disadvantages such as limiting one exercise for one particular part of the body; therefore you need multiple machines in order to achieve a total body workout.
